£41,374 per annum, 6 month Fixed Term Contract

Full Time, 48 hours per week (annualised)

Home to two of the world`s great artistic companies – The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet.

We are currently looking for an experienced Wig & Make Up Technician to join our busy team working on a 48 hour per week (averaged over a 17 week reference period) fixed term contract mainly with artists of the Royal Opera. The work involves wig making and styling; hair cutting and styling; make up and special effects for all theatrical, media and television productions of the Royal Opera House.

The ideal candidate will be a positive team player with:

• A relevant qualification, e.g. HND or degree level course in Costume, Wigs and Make Up for the Performing Arts, and ideally the City & Guilds hairdressing diploma and make up course.
• Substantial qualified experience in wigs and make up, with excellent skills in hairdressing, wig, make up and prosthetic techniques.
• Creativity, efficiency and flair in interpreting the designer`s brief.
• Excellent communication skills in dealing with artists and people at all levels.
• Ability to work effectively either independently or in a team and collaborating closely with colleagues to achieve deadlines and targets.
