The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a beauty therapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including: providing body massage, face and body electrotherapy, health and safety and client care.
You will need:
- A good standard of the English language to allow for study and competence of the on line examinations
- Applicants should be aged 19 or over at the start of this course.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and beauty therapy products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of beauty therapy products and electrical equipment using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.
Students will need to provide a model for practical assessments. Students will also be required to build a portfolio of evidence.
Duration and Delivery
This is a 17 weeks course delivered part-time (2.5 days a week) to fit your life.
Theory exams are via on line assessments (ICT based). Practical based assessments.
Further study and career options
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty massage therapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty massage therapist. Career opportunities as a beauty massage therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:
– Working in commercial beauty salons, destination spas and day spas/cruise liners
– Working in a retail concession in a department store
– Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
This is one of two VTCT qualifications in beauty therapy at Level 3. Whilst both qualifications qualify you to become a beauty therapist, this qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
