Supermom Made £1 Million From Beauty Business She started As Her Side Job

Kayleigh Graham said that her last year was one of her most challenging yet rewarding years thus far. She works now in the beauty business, is a mom who replies to emails at night, sits in meetings during the day, and still deals with a newborn baby.

Who Is Kayleigh Graham?

Kayleigh came up with Lily England back in 2015 and made it her side job. However, she and her husband Jamie had to ditch their full-time jobs once their business started to grow.

Kayleigh knew that she wanted to do something in the beauty industry, but she had no idea that she was going to blow-up as much as she did. Before she used to work in fashion firms such as Selfridges and Burberry, where it became crystal clear to her that the beauty business is her best choice. Why? Well, it is a fast-growing multi-billion industry, and she felt like she could contribute in her own way.

What Was Her Vision?

She explained her vision to many journalists in several interviews that she wanted to give her brand an Instagrammable makeover, where she’ll combine functionally along with beauty. One of her best designs was a detangling brush which won her customer over since it was so practical. Not only that it was a handy brush, but it could effectively remove the knots from every hair type while looking super stylish in a rose-gold color. Once that brush took of she also made an ombre version, silver, and beautiful marble design.

About Lily England

Kayleigh used to work as a social media consultant which gave her the much-needed knowledge on how to start-up her own business.

She knew that she wanted to approach the brand and the job modestly, but securely. Therefore she ordered only 500 units of her well-known detangling brushes. She also used a good portion from hers & her husband’s savings to make this process happen. At first, she sold her brushes only on Amazon. Plenty of her friends & family members were skeptical, but she felt the need to prove them wrong. Later on she created her website and has been successfully running it ever since.

Beauty business is Challenging

Kayleigh says learning how to run an e-commerce business was challenging. Not only that but trying to learn all about grips with products as well as how to deal with suppliers was demanding since you have to rely on multiple people. She gradually built her collection and her line of products by reinvesting profits into some other new items. In time she created makeup brushes as well as beauty tools which were all cruelty-free and vegan-friendly.

Lily England now offers a range of make-up brushes and bags, as well as beauty tools. One of her must-have items is her lash curler, and her packaging and sense of style for all of her items is remarkable.

How Did She Make It?

Kayleigh has been reaching out to many Instagram influencers which have been promoting her brand. She is aware of the power that brand ambassadors can do, and she loves to grow on a daily. Because of this move her firm now has an annual revenue of over £1million a year.

Combing Work Life With Personal Is Demanding

Running a successful business has been hard & challenging, but it is even harder when you are a mom of a newborn. Kayleigh has a daughter called Grace. She says that combining personal life, motherhood & work-life doesn’t go hand in hand. However, she has adapted to her new schedule. How? She works at night by responding to emails. She also breastfeeds and multi-task while she’s in meetings. Kayleigh is actually an example of a true workaholic woman who showed us that hard work pays off, and that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.  Source

How to step out of your comfort zone and start making your beauty career happen?

First steps are always the hardest, no matter which field you are in. If you want to jump-start your beauty career know that you can, and you should. Here is how to work on your own, how to own a salon, and how to get out of the comfort zone as soon as possible.

Embrace a new routine

By going through a new routine you are actually learning a lot more. You are fixing up your efficiency, and are adapting each day per your needs, as well as new demands. You should also move towards your fears and try to do as much as possible to fight them off. Trying over and over again often leads to success. This is why it is important not to give up, even though your pace may be a bit slow, especially at first if you are just starting out.

Whenever you feel like you are a bit scared and that you don’t want to take your career a step further, try to remember this – a whopping 58% of managers in the U.S didn’t go through any management training!

They were simply upgraded to a better position due to their hard work, and determination.

This could also easily be you. Your current boss may give you a better-paid position, or may even ask you to become a manager.

Some can recognize your potential and will advise you on taking it a step further and opening up your own salon.

How to succeed?

You should take the right course since proper education will push you in the right direction. Take a career-, or personality test. There are loads of them on the internet for free. Remember the first step to jump-start your beauty career is to know yourself in and out.

It is also important to be open-minded to some steps which you’d never normally take. Try new strategies, meet new people, and enjoy new acquaintances. Try to remember one thing – the more the merrier.

Also, one encouraging fact which will help you start your own business is knowing the following: The fastest growing sectors in the world are linked to auto shops, dry cleaners, and beauty salons!

Here you can have a look at our government funded courses, that can help you start a career in the beauty industry.

There are different levels

At CPBA (Candor Professional Beauty Academy) you can choose between level 2 and level 3 courses.

Level 2 is fully funded or co-founded by the government.

Level 3 is only for those who are 19 years old and above. They can apply for a loan which will cover the cost of their training. Make sure you are 19 years old before the academic year starts (from September to August.)

For EEA countries only

You are eligible for funding as long as you are a citizen of the European Economic Area (28 different countries are in EEA).

If you’ve been living in any other country apart from EEA countries in the last 3 years, you won’t be eligible for funding.

How can your course be fully funded?

If you are between the ages of 19-23 and this is your first full level 2 qualification you can apply. You can also apply if you are above the age of 24, but are unemployed, or you have a low wage (you should earn less than £15,736.50)

If you do not meet these requirements you will be co-founded.

What about the repayments?

Those who end up getting a loan will have to pay-back only when they finish the course, and once they start making more than £25,000 a year.

A repayment will stop only if your income drops below this amount. Your repayment will be 9% of what you make during the year, as long as it is over £25,000.

Your first day when you start your new career in beauty can be stressful. This also applies when you are a new employee at a beauty salon, trying to understand and get along with so many different people daily. You will probably work mostly with women, and you will need to understand all of their demands, even though you may sometimes not agree with their visions. It can be hard to work in a dynamic surrounding and let’s not forget that you need to have the capacity to pick up new trades easily. Luckily, at CPBA you will enjoy learning, and you will enjoy working!

CPBA gives results faster

CPBA has many different courses, one of them is related to nail shaping, painting, and transforming. You won’t need previous work experience for any of their courses. Yet, you will go through the entire course for free. You will need to invest one day per week to attend the course and you will be financially secure by the end of the year.

Why go with CPBA if you want a career in beauty?

When you attend training at CPBA, you are allowed to have unlimited guidance with a specialist. They will help you plan out your future, while also making the sessions ideal for your spare time. You can ask as many questions as you want, and you will have them answered either online or in person. Not that many companies, schools or colleges are as flexible, which makes CPBA ideal for part-time workers.

In less than 4 months, you will end up with a VTCT Level 3 Diploma certificate.

This is way faster than if you were attending some specials courses, or if you went to college. It takes around one year to get the campus degree, and you will still end up with the same Level 3 degree diploma.
